Ugandan music star Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Chameleone, has expanded his business interests to Burundi with the launch of a radio station in the capital, Bujumbura.
On Monday, the Basiima Ogenze singer announced the establishment of Chameleone FM, a music-focused radio station broadcasting on 94.9 FM.
“Beginning our new journey Chameleone FM. Thank you my His Excellency Gen Ndayishimiye, My Burundian brothers and sisters for welcoming us to your beautiful Country,” Chameleone said in a message shared online.
According to reports, the station will run strictly music programmes, targeting both local and regional audiences.
The development comes weeks after the 46-year-old artiste met Burundi President Evariste Ndayishimiye on December 15, 2025, at the Ntare Rushatsi Palace in Bujumbura.
The meeting reportedly centred on Chameleone’s proposals to invest in Burundi’s youth, including plans to set up an ultra-modern music studio aimed at nurturing local talent and strengthening regional music collaboration, an idea that was welcomed by the Burundian leader.
Chameleone is one of East Africa’s most influential musicians and has in recent years shown growing interest in investing beyond music, particularly in creative industry projects across the region.
